The first romance of autumn is brought by Panshan!
As the red leaves gradually dye the mountains, from green to orange-red, and then to sunset gold, it feels like nature has personally spilled its palette 🎨. No wonder it was selected as a National Geographic scenic spot!
📓 Guide as follows:
📍 Attraction: Panshan Scenic Area, Jizhou, Tianjin
📅 Best time for red leaves: Late October - Mid November
🚗 Transportation: Only 1.5h drive from Beijing, easy round trip
⛰ About Panshan:
Known as the "Imperial Backyard Garden" visited 32 times by Emperor Qianlong, it is famed as the "Number One Mountain East of Beijing." Every step reveals a new scene, each with its own story, blending the elegance of Jiangnan with the grandeur of the North. Not only does it have autumn red leaves and thousand-year-old ginkgo trees, but also waterfalls, strange rocks, and seas of clouds.

📷 Must-visit photo spots:
The best photo spots in Panshan are mainly concentrated between the entrance and Wansong Temple. It is recommended to walk down this section instead of taking the cableway, or you will miss 90% of the scenery in Panshan Scenic Area.
⛩ Tiancheng Temple: Two huge thousand-year-old ginkgo trees, now golden yellow. Inscribed by Emperor Qianlong, it houses an ancient Buddha relic pagoda.
⛩ Wansong Temple: Hidden among 99 granite pagodas, serene and solemn.
⛩ Yunzhào Temple: The highest temple in Panshan, shrouded in mist like a fairyland.
⛰ Guayue Peak: At 864 meters elevation, the Dingguang Buddha relic pagoda stands tall on the summit. Also features the characters "Panshan" written by Emperor Qianlong.
⚠️ Tips:
1️⃣ No need to bring too much water uphill, there are many small shops along the way offering grilled sausages, instant noodles, corn juice, and more, making resupply convenient.
2️⃣ Bring a hiking pole to reduce knee pressure. Wear a thick jacket and take it off if you get hot while climbing!
3️⃣ Pet friendly
Panshan is truly a scenic spot you can fall in love with again and again.
