## Awakening in Time: A Check-in Experience at the JR Hotel Clement Tokushima
Stepping through the glass doors of the JR Hotel Clement Tokushima felt like stepping through time. The modern and minimalist lobby, adorned with Tokushima's traditional indigo-dyeing elements, instantly draws you into the city's rich history.
My room was on a high floor, offering panoramic views of Tokushima City through the floor-to-ceiling windows. As the sun set, the Yoshino River shimmered, and the distant silhouette of Mount Bizan resembled a captivating ink painting. The room's design continued the Japanese minimalist style, seamlessly blending a tatami area with Western-style bedding, preserving traditional charm while ensuring modern comfort.
As night fell, I made my way to the hot spring baths on the top floor. Soaking in the warm spring water while overlooking the city lights, the day's fatigue melted away. The hotel thoughtfully provided local yukata robes, their indigo patterns echoing Tokushima's traditional crafts, showcasing attention to detail in every aspect.
The next morning, I enjoyed an authentic Japanese breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Fresh sashimi, fragrant rice, and Tokushima's specialty sudachi citrus juice—every bite was a treat for the taste buds. The restaurant staff spoke softly, and their impeccable service created a welcoming atmosphere.
The hotel's location was a delightful surprise. The Awa Odori Kaikan, where you can experience Tokushima's most iconic traditional dance, is within walking distance. Taking the JR train provides easy access to the Naruto Strait, where you can witness the spectacular whirlpools. The hotel acts as a bridge connecting tradition and modernity, nature and culture.
Upon checking out, the front desk staff presented me with a small gift—an indigo-dyed bookmark—along with a warm smile. "We look forward to your return." This simple farewell encapsulated the warmth of Japanese hospitality.
My two days at the JR Hotel Clement Tokushima were more than just a stay; they were a cultural journey through time. Every brick, every meal, every drink told a story of Tokushima, making it an unforgettable experience.
