“Harajuku” is a popular spot for teenagers and young adults who care about their own fashion style. Today, the traditional Harajuku fashion may have passed with the times. Let’s introduce you to some of the interesting things about this place besides fashion.
Harajuku used to be a place for travelers to stay overnight during the Edo period. The kanji for “inns in the fields” indicates its origin.
Currently, Harajuku is a station located between Shibuya and Shinjuku on the JR Yamanote Line, which runs through central Tokyo. There are many popular spots such as Yoyogi Park and Meiji Shrine, as well as Omotesando Street lined with luxury brand shops and luxury clothing stores.
Also familiar as the oldest wooden station building in Tokyo, Harajuku Station was reborn in June 2020 as a station with a shopping mall under the theme "TOKYO's new presentation stage that transmits culture and creativity to the world"
📍Access: The nearest station is Harajuku Station on the JR Yamanote Line
