Maybe it's because I've watched too many anime, the cherry blossom season every year is the season I look forward to the most. 🥹 Due to weather reasons this year, the cherry blossom blooming time will be moved back a little, and it is expected to be a large-scale blooming time in mid-to-late March.
I have been there so many times. In addition to the popular places that have bloomed recently, I would like to summarize the places I recommend. They are all directly accessible by subway and are secret places with flowers blooming all over the road. 👇
🚃Transportation + Features + Airplane Position + Lightning Avoidance
📍Kawazu Sakura ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌸Features: The same filming location as the Japanese drama "First Love", the cherry blossom trees stretching along the river for nearly 5 kilometers are really amazing, and the petals are very large, making it easier to take close-up photos than other places
📷Camera position: It is recommended to walk counterclockwise along the riverbank on both sides so that you can avoid the crowds and take photos
🚇Transportation: JR Izukyu Line is a dedicated cherry blossom train. Remember to book seat A on the left. It will pass by the coastline for 10 minutes. It is super beautiful.
📍JR Nishi-Hachioji Station ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌸Features: The entire riverbank is lined with cherry blossom trees on both sides, which is super spectacular. There are very few people, basically locals running here, and you can take photos at will.
📷Seating space: Two express trains on the Chuo Line run through the Sakura Tunnel at 14:10 and 16:25 every day (seats must be reserved 20 minutes in advance)
🚇Transportation: Take the JR Chuo Line Nishi-Hachioji Station, exit from the north exit, and cross the overpass to the Oiwake-cho Promenade Bridge
📍Skytree ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌸Features: Many postcard locations, with the world's top tower and cherry blossoms in the same frame. Many people like to take pictures of the cherry blossoms at night, but I prefer to take pictures on sunny days, which are more beautiful.
🚇Transportation: Asakusa Line "Oshiage Station" B3 Exit / Tobu Skytree Line Directly
📷Airport location: 18:00-21:00 The Skytree lights up with cherry blossom pink lights! It is recommended to walk to Yanwen Bridge to take pictures of the river cherry blossoms + the reflection of the twin towers
🌚Lightning avoidance: You must come on a sunny day, it's really ugly on a cloudy day
📍Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌸Features: In the city gardens, 70+ species of cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and the flowering period can last up to 1 month, so you will definitely not miss it.
🚇Transportation: Marunouchi Line Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station Exit 1 / JR Shinjuku Station South Exit 10-minute walk
📷Camera position: Use wide angle to shoot lawn + cherry blossoms + Shinjuku skyscrapers in the courtyard area
🌚Avoidance: There will be a lot of people after 11 o'clock
📍Yoyogi Park ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌸Features: Many local young people will have picnics and enjoy the cherry blossoms here. This is also the filming location for many animations. There is also a cherry blossom market every weekend. I participated in it once and it was really lively.
🚇Transportation: Chiyoda Line "Yoyogi Park Station" Exit 4 / JR "Harajuku Station" Omotesando Exit 7 minutes walk
