Sensoji Temple, a famous temple in the Asakusa area

Anyone planning to visit Tokyo must not miss the Asakusa area. It is an old district of Tokyo and also home to the famous Sensoji Temple.

The main highlight of Sensoji Temple that you must see when entering the temple grounds is the Kaminarimon Gate. Beyond the gate, you will find Nakamise Shopping Street, lined with shops selling food and souvenirs. If you visit during peak tourist season, this area can be very crowded. I went in early February in the morning when there weren’t many people, so there was space to take photos without crowds.

Walking to the end of the shopping street, you will find another photo landmark, the Hozomon Gate, the second gate of Sensoji Temple. Tourists love to take selfies with the red lantern here. Inside the temple grounds, there is a five-story pagoda and a place to pray and make wishes. It is said that the amulets from Sensoji Temple are very powerful.
