The official name of Shibamata Teishakuten is "Keizan Daikyo-ji Temple". A temple of the Nichiren sect with a long history that was founded in 1629. The main image of Teishakuten, which is said to have been carved by Nichiren Saint himself, is enshrined. Teishakuten is one of the guardian gods of Buddhism.
In the precincts, there is a "Sculpture Gallery" with sculptures related to the Buddhist Sutra and a beautiful Japanese garden "Yukeien". It's the scene of the movie "It's hard for men" and also appears in the manga "This is Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen-mae Police Station".
The path leading from Shibamata Station is a shopping street with an old-fashioned atmosphere, and it is crowded with many people every day.
