[Tokyo] A Quiet Ancient Temple Standing Still, Forgetting the Bustle of the City: "Genkokuji"

Located in "Takadanobaba," Tokyo, "Genkokuji"

It is very close to "Shinjuku Suwa Shrine," and although it is now independent, it used to be the temple in charge of Suwa Shrine.

Although it is a temple in the city center, the precincts are quiet, with a well-maintained courtyard, a magnificent bell tower, and a hexagonal hall enshrining Benzaiten, creating a serene space where you can forget the hustle and bustle of the city and take a breather! I always feel like I’ve stepped into another world.

The main hall, located at the top of the stone steps, is a wooden structure that feels historical, and the wooden carved signboard with "Genkokuji" written on it hanging at the front gives a sense of strength 👀

*They said they collected many large pine cones from the pine tree in the precincts, and I received one 🙏 Pine cones somehow really suit temples, don’t they? ☺️
