Ueno is the first stop for Tokyo trips for many reasons:
1️⃣ Many hotel options
2️⃣ Excellent location, direct access to the airport and various city spots by train, within walking distance to Senso-ji Temple and Akihabara
3️⃣ Numerous shopping spots
📍From Narita Airport to Ueno, people usually take Keisei Electric Railway, which includes Skyliner, Access Express, and Keisei Main Line. The pros and cons are as follows:
❇️ Skyliner
👍 Direct to Ueno, fastest arrival (about 40 minutes), reserved seats (assigned seating, spacious seats), charging ports available, dedicated luggage area
👎 Higher price (Adult one-way JPY 2580)
❇️ Access Express
👍 Direct or transfer to Ueno, cheaper price (Adult one-way JPY 1280)
👎 Longer travel time (about 1 hour), carry-on luggage only, no reserved seats
❇️ Keisei Main Line
👍 Direct to Ueno, cheapest (Adult one-way JPY 1060)
👎 Longest travel time (about 1 hour 20 minutes), carry-on luggage only, no reserved seats
📍 Skyliner Route
Narita Terminal 1 → Narita Terminal 2 → Aoto (some trains) → Shin-Kamagaya (some trains) → Nippori → Keisei Ueno
👉 Keisei Ueno Station is only a 3-minute walk to JR Ueno Station, making transfers very convenient
⏰ Skyliner Schedule: About 2-3 trains per hour
From Narita Terminal 1 ⇒ First train 07:23, last train 23:00
From Ueno or Nippori ⇒ First train 05:40, last train 20:20
❓ How to buy Skyliner tickets:
