This is my third time attending the Kitty Afternoon Tea. The first was at Hello Kitty Smile in Kobe Awajishima, and the second was at the Tokyo Omotesando cafe with Kitty. This time, it’s the Kitty 50th Anniversary Cafe in Tokyo.

These event cafes collaborate monthly with animations or idol groups. I have previously visited the Conan Cafe and Weathering With You Cafe. The way to use it is to first purchase a seat ticket on the reservation site.

You select the date and visit time, then go at that time on that day. You pay about 500 to 1000 yen as a seat fee. They give you a not-for-sale souvenir, so the money isn’t wasted. The 50th Anniversary Kitty Cafe souvenir is a square badge.

There are a total of 50 types to celebrate the 50th anniversary, and they are given out randomly. Additionally, if you post on SNS on the spot and complete a mission, you can receive an original 50th anniversary sticker, and cafe users can also purchase limited goods.

Cafe use is through a dedicated QR code and contactless ordering. Since the purpose is afternoon tea, I order afternoon tea and a Kitty soda drink together. They also have sandwiches, pasta, pancakes, and more.

Places like this are for eating with your eyes while taking photos. The assigned time is up to 75 minutes, and the system requires you to go in at the first time slot at 10:15, finish payment by 11:30, and leave. New reservations come in every 45 minutes.

They operate in two time slots alternating odd and even. This is now a very familiar scene. The afternoon tea was tastier than I expected. 🤣 Of course, if it weren’t for Kitty, I would never spend this money to eat here.

It’s thoroughly a fan culture and a performance possible only within the Kitty worldview. The entire day was fully booked by girl fans worldwide. The straw of the Kitty soda drink comes with a straw charm attached.

However, this is not free; it costs 660 yen and is only available to customers who purchase a drink. There are 4 types randomly given. It’s the pinnacle of business tactics, very Japanese. I always admire it; it’s the homeland after all.

You can also order a Costa mug cup set to take home. You just pay, but even on the 14th day of the 45-day event period, two items were already sold out. Even after 50 years, the love for Kitty never ends.

It’s a moment to personally feel the amazing popularity and enduring influence of Kitty Grandma. I’m trying everything possible with Kitty in Japan, and I’m satisfied with adding another page. I don’t buy goods. 😎 Thank you.
