While waiting for my flight at Haneda, I stumbled upon Katsusen, known for its tonkatsu—and what a pleasant surprise it was! After a long day, I was craving something warm and satisfying, and this spot delivered.
The tonkatsu was perfectly golden and crunchy, with the meat inside juicy and tender. Each bite had that delightful contrast between the crispy exterior and succulent pork. It came with the classic accompaniments—finely shredded cabbage, warm fluffy rice, and miso soup—all of which were freshly prepared and hit the spot. I also loved the tonkatsu sauce—it had a rich tangy sweetness that elevated the dish without overpowering it.
Though the restaurant is compact, it’s really efficient—ideal for travelers needing a quick yet delicious meal. The staff were upbeat and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed as I cleaned my plate before boarding.
If you’re at Haneda and craving a satisfying last taste of Japan, skip the usual grab-and-go options and treat yourself to a proper tonkatsu meal at Katsusen.
