Here’s a super fun one-day Tokyo Asakusa tour guide! ✨ This old town full of Edo charm perfectly blends tradition and modernity, making it a must-visit spot in Tokyo~
🚶♀️ Classic route recommendation:
9:00 AM: Check in at Kaminarimon Gate 📍
Be sure to take a photo with the giant red lantern! It’s best to go early to avoid crowds. The nearby Nakamise Shopping Street opens at 10 AM, so you can take photos around first 📸
10:30 AM: Stroll and snack at Nakamise Shopping Street 🍡
This 200-meter-long old street is great for shopping! Recommended treats:
- Ningyo-yaki: Asakusa’s most famous souvenir
- Fried manju: freshly fried and super crispy
- Matcha ice cream: authentic Uji matcha flavor
12:00 PM: Worship at Senso-ji Temple 🙏
Remember to wash your hands at the chozuya first, and tossing a 5-yen coin to make a wish is very effective! If you get a bad fortune, be sure to tie it to the rack~
2:00 PM: Sumida River cruise 🚢
Departing from Asakusa Pier, it’s recommended to take the “Tokyo Mizube Line” route. On a clear day, you can see the beautiful reflection of the Skytree!
4:00 PM: Skytree sky view 🏙️
Overlook all of Tokyo from the 350-meter-high observation deck. It’s best to go at dusk to see both the sunset and night view ✨
🍱 Must-try foods:
- Daikokuya Tempura: The shrimp tempura from this century-old shop is amazing!
Address: 1-38-10 Asakusa, Taito-ku
- Asakusa Menchi: Juicy fried meat patties
Address: 2-3-3 Asakusa, Taito-ku
💡 Useful tips:
1️⃣ Kimono rentals require advance booking! Recommended “Asakusa Ai Kimono” for a wide selection and great service
2️⃣ Weekends are very crowded, so it’s best to visit on weekdays
3️⃣ The observation deck on the top floor of Asakusa Culture and Tourist Information Center is free and a hidden photo spot
4️⃣ To avoid crowds, try to take photos at Kaminarimon before 7 AM
