🏛 Highlights of the National Museum of Western Art Permanent Exhibition
1. The core is the Matsukata Collection
Centered on Impressionist paintings and Rodin sculptures collected by Kojiro Matsukata. You can casually enjoy Monet’s "Water Lilies" and Rodin’s "The Gates of Hell" here without any pressure.
2. Covers a wide range of periods and genres
From 14th-century Gothic religious paintings to early 20th-century Post-Impressionism. Experience European art history all at once through Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Impressionism, and more.
3. Architecture designed by Le Corbusier is also a highlight
The building itself is a work of art, featuring a pilotis harmonizing with the courtyard, a 19th-century hall, and galleries filled with natural light. It was designated a World Cultural Heritage site in 2016!
