Tokyo's Summer: Sumida Fireworks Magic🎇

Two weeks ago, I finally ticked off something that’s been on my bucket list for years — watching a real Japanese summer fireworks festival! After endlessly scrolling social media for videos, I decided to just go for it and booked a trip to Tokyo for the biggest one: the Sumida River Fireworks Festival.

This was my very first time seeing fireworks in Japan, so I did my homework and ended up at Sumida Park on the Tokyo Skytree side. It’s less crowded than the main viewing spots, but still full of people. The view wasn’t the most perfect… yet the moment felt magical. A sweet Japanese guy next to me even made space for me when a couple blocked my view — little acts of kindness like that stay with you. 🥹 He told me, “In Japan, fireworks are only in summer.”

Was it hot? Yes. Crowded? Definitely. Tiring? Absolutely.
But worth it? 1000% yes. 🌟
I left with the promise to myself: Next year, I’ll chase more fireworks in different Japanese cities!

4. Arrive by 16:00 to secure a good spot — the early birds win the best views.
5. Respect others and follow event staff instructions.
6. Don’t worry about getting lost — the staff will guide you to the right viewing area.
