Ao Building: Basic Information & Highlights Guide

Architectural Overview
• Name: Ao (a play on the words "Aoyama" and "meet")
• Location: 3-11-7 Kita-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo (right next to Omotesando Station)
• Design: Nihon Sekkei
• Structure and Scale: Steel-framed reinforced concrete construction, 16 floors above ground and 2 basement floors, approximately 90m high-rise and low-rise buildings
• Completion and Opening: Completed in October 2008, opened on March 26, 2009

Design Features
• The wedge-shaped design: By narrowing the mid-rise area and widening the upper and lower levels, the building blends seamlessly with the existing streetscape while creating a new landscape.   
• Lower floors with a stepped garden: A relaxing space featuring water and greenery provides a sense of peace even in the heart of the city.  
• Nighttime LED illumination: The building's fantastical exterior design complements the night view.  

Interior and Tenant Profile
• Lower floors: Primarily commercial facilities. Kinokuniya International (supermarket) is located in the basement. A wide variety of shops, including fashion brands like French Cinema Quanon and Momotaro Jeans, hair salons, restaurants (Italian, Austrian, and Hungarian), and cafes and bars.   
• Higher floors: Primarily office tenants.  

Access & Facilities
• Access: Conveniently located just a 1-2 minute walk from Omotesando Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza, Chiyoda, and Hanzomon lines.  
• Facilities: Meets new earthquake resistance standards, individual air conditioning, OA floors, automated security, fiber optics, and 24-hour access. 122 mechanical parking spaces available.

Across from Spiral in Omotesando stands the striking Hugo Boss Aoyama store. Its hourglass-like form, surrounded by gigantic columns, creates a powerful facade. The building was designed by renowned architect Norihiko Dan.

What is Spiral Garden?
• Location and Atmosphere: Located on the first floor of Spiral along Aoyama-dori in Omotesando. In this open gallery space adjacent to the cafe, you can enjoy art while gazing at the spiraling slope.
• Exhibitions: Regularly hosting exhibitions across a wide range of genres, from contemporary art by young and emerging artists to design, architecture, and crafts.



Spiral Facility Overview
• Architecture and History:
• Completed in 1985, the building was designed by renowned architect Fumihiko Maki. It is a masterpiece of graceful, futuristic postmodern architecture.
• At its center is a "floating spiral ramp" measuring approximately 15 meters in diameter, which serves as the symbol of the entire building.
• Structure and Function:
• A diverse, multi-purpose cultural facility featuring a gallery, a multi-purpose hall, a cafe, a restaurant, a bar, a lifestyle goods store (Spiral Market), a beauty salon, and more.
• Concept:
→ Based on the concept of "fusion of art and everyday life," we created an everyday space where art is accessible.

• Access:
Conveniently located just a few seconds' walk from the B1 or B3 exit of Omotesando Station (Ginza Line, Chiyoda Line, Hanzomon Line).

Business hours are generally 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM (varies depending on the exhibit and store).
