Ueno Zoo

#tokyospots

Ueno Zoo is a classic Tokyo attraction and a great place to spend a leisurely afternoon. It’s Japan’s oldest zoo, and while some enclosures felt dated, I loved the variety of animals on display. The giant pandas are the biggest stars, and seeing them up close was a highlight. I also enjoyed wandering the spacious grounds, which are divided into east and west sections connected by a monorail. Beyond the animals, the zoo is surrounded by Ueno Park, making it easy to combine with museums or seasonal cherry blossom viewing. For families or animal lovers, it’s a fun and memorable stop.
