These are materials on display at Ohara Gakuen (Ohara Bookkeeping School) in Kanda Jimbocho.
The exhibit on the left is:
• "Textbook of Practical Bookkeeping" (published in 1910, written by Ohara Bookkeeping School's first principal, Hisashi Ohara).
On the right is:
• A facsimile of Luca Pacioli's "Summa (Complete Mathematical Encyclopedia / Summa de arithmetica, geometria, proportioni et proportionalità, published in 1494)."
Luca Pacioli was a Renaissance mathematician known as the "father of bookkeeping." He is famous for describing the method of "double-entry bookkeeping" in this book, published in Venice.
A bust of Pacioli (Luca Pacioli statue) is installed in the main building of Ohara Gakuen in Jimbocho, serving as a symbol of bookkeeping education.
In addition, the display cases are lined with valuable textbooks that show the history of bookkeeping education in Japan, as well as historical materials of global importance.
