Kiba Park, located in Tokyo's Koto Ward, is a lesser-known cherry blossom viewing spot in the heart of the city. Its tranquil atmosphere and diverse cherry blossom varieties have earned it a place among the "100 Famous Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan." The park features around 400 cherry trees, including weeping cherry, Oshima cherry, double-flowered cherry, and Somei Yoshino cherry trees. During spring (late March to early April), these trees bloom into a sea of pink and white, creating a striking contrast with the modern skyline of Tokyo Skytree and the Kiba Park Bridge. At night, the illuminated cherry blossoms take on a dreamlike quality, especially along the Ohkawa River Cherry Blossom Path, where the petals reflect on the water, creating a romantic spring evening ambiance. The park also houses the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo and green spaces, adding a cultural touch to the cherry blossom experience.
Getting there: From Tokyo Station, take the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line to "Kiba Station," then walk about 5 minutes to reach the park. Admission is free, and the park is open all day, with night illumination typically lasting until 9:00 PM. Visiting in the evening or on weekdays is recommended to avoid weekend crowds and enjoy the poetic blend of cherry blossoms and urban nightscapes.
