Imado Shrine, located in Asakusa, Taito Ward, Tokyo, is renowned for its blessings in love and marriage, earning the title of "Tokyo's Number One Matchmaking Shrine." The main deities worshipped here are Emperor Ōjin, Izanagi-no-Mikoto, and Izanami-no-Mikoto, symbolizing harmonious relationships, smooth love affairs, and family happiness.
Another unique feature of Imado Shrine is its connection to the Maneki-neko (beckoning cat). It is said to be one of the origins of the Maneki-neko, and the shrine grounds are adorned with adorable Maneki-neko statues and ema (wooden prayer plaques), making it a popular spot for visitors to take photos. Especially notable are the paired Maneki-neko, which symbolize good relationships and happiness.
In addition to love luck, Imado Shrine is also famous for blessings in wealth and career success. Many visitors purchase ema, omamori (charms), or Maneki-neko-themed items to bring home and enhance their fortune.
The shrine exudes a tranquil and warm atmosphere. While it may not be as bustling as Senso-ji Temple, its focus on relationships and the charming Maneki-neko make it a beloved destination for couples, singles, and tourists alike.
