Background
Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel is a high-rise landmark in Shibuya, Tokyo, part of the Cerulean Tower building completed in 2001 by Tokyu Construction. The building combines offices, commercial spaces, and the hotel, with the guest rooms positioned between the 19th and 37th floors. Its name—and its design—evokes the sky: “cerulean” referencing bright blue, with room décor and views emphasizing sky, light, and the changing day into night.
Why It’s Worth Staying
• Location: Just a 5-minute walk from Shibuya Station and the famous Shibuya Crossing. Easy access to multiple train lines, nightlife, shopping, and restaurants.
• Views & Rooms: The higher-floor rooms offer sweeping vistas—Shibuya skyline, Shinjuku, Tokyo Tower, Roppongi, and even Mount Fuji on clear days. Some rooms have bathtubs positioned to take in those views.
• Facilities & Dining: Multiple restaurants (Western, Japanese, sushi, teppanyaki) including a sky-bar/restaurant on the 40th floor. Spa + Fitness + indoor pool. Excellent banquet/meeting facilities.
My Impression
Staying at Cerulean Tower feels like being perched above Tokyo’s energy: neon streets, crowds, movement below—but in your room, there’s calm, view, horizon. The room décor makes you aware of the sky outside—morning light, sunset, and city lights igniting at night. The contrast between busy Shibuya and hushed luxury inside makes every moment—from waking up to looking out the window, to dining high above the city—stand out. It’s a stay that feels both glamorous and observant, where the city is present but respectfully framed.
