Tucked away on the 4th floor of Esola Ikebukuro, Fukuro-sho-Sabou is more than just a café — it’s a little hideaway for book lovers. The warm, antique-inspired interior makes it easy to relax, even when visiting solo.
Before entering the café, you’ll find a small book corner — but here’s the twist: all the books are wrapped so that you can’t see the title or cover. Each one comes with only a short description, inviting you to choose by imagination. It’s such a charming concept that turns reading into a small adventure.
For my order, I went with the classic pudding (¥495) and a blended coffee (¥550). The pudding was perfectly firm yet silky, topped with a rich caramel sauce — simple but irresistible.
When it’s time to pay, you’ll bring a little key (handed to you instead of a receipt) to the register — another lovely, old-fashioned touch that adds to the charm.
