Xianyu, also known as Chexiang Valley, lies west of Huashan Valley, separated from it by a ridge. Legend has it that the ancient brothers Huang Chuping and Huang Chuqi became immortals while herding sheep here, hence the name. Xianyu is over fifty miles deep, with narrow and tranquil paths. The mountain path is rugged and winding, with a turbulent river and precipitous rocks. Many sections of the road are carved into the cliffs and built with planks to cross. Five miles into the valley, a sloping ridge blocks the way, giving the impression of a valley ending and the road ending. However, crossing the ridge adds a touch of excitement, revealing a new beginning.
Due to its abundant waters and numerous secluded pools, Xianyu River is considered a natural bathing spot on Mount Huashan. In midsummer, the valley is bustling with visitors seeking to escape the heat and enjoy their vacations, while those seeking secluded and secluded areas are even more numerous. The planning and design of the Huashan Scenic Area calls for further development of Xianyu's landscape to provide more extensive tourist areas and enrich visitors' aesthetic tastes.
As Xianyu has no traces of artificial carving and its natural landscape is beautiful and smooth, poets and painters of all dynasties have entered the valley to recite poems and paint. The Tang poet Chang Jian wrote the line "Two steep peaks appear as one enters the stream, and the wind blows quietly through the sparse pines and cypresses." Painters call Xianyu a beauty "hidden in the boudoir, unknown to the world," and also call it the "Venus" at the foot of Mount Hua.
The warm temperate continental monsoon climate offers four distinct seasons and abundant sunshine, making spring, summer, and autumn ideal for travel.
South of the ridge, the terrain gradually widens and flattens. Lush trees and green grass line the valley sides, streams converge into pools like mirrors, and terraced fields stacked layer upon layer like strips of green felt. Villagers gather in small groups, men tilling the fields and women weaving, working from sunrise to sunset, creating a scene reminiscent of a paradise on earth. Xianyu boasts dozens of cultural and natural attractions, and the myths and legends recorded in historical records are even more captivating.
At the end of the sloping ridge is Chexiangtan, which is called the seventh water palace in the world in "Shui Jing Zhu". The story of Xing's aunt marrying Prince Long of Chexiangtan to cure her father's chronic illness, which is circulated in Huayin, happened here.
To the southeast of Xieling is Huashan Baiyang Peak. At the foot of the cliff on the west side of the peak is the Yanggong Stone Chamber, which is said to be the place where the ancestors of the Yang family in the world took refuge. Near the Yanggong Stone Chamber is Shiyang City, where Huang Chuping became an immortal while herding sheep. Looking north of Xieling, there are strange rocks and scenic spots such as the Cat's Head Stone, the Turtle and Snake Locking the Carriage, all of which are vivid and lifelike, which make visitors amazed.
