Just got back from Tonglu! Unexpectedly unlocked a warm 20°C in the cold winter, with the magical caves of Yaolin Wonderland and the vibrant landscapes of Daqi Mountain—fun and perfect for photos. No wonder it’s certified by National Geographic as one of the best travel destinations worldwide. Perfect for Chinese New Year or weekend getaways!
1. Core Check-in Spots: Explore Tonglu with two must-visit attractions
📍 First stop: Yaolin Wonderland (a must-visit for a warm winter!)
As a natural underground cave, it maintains a constant 20°C all year round. No matter how cold it is outside, stepping in feels like entering spring. The karst landscape creates stalactites in all shapes and colors, illuminated by colorful lights that make it look like a "starry sky" underground—some stalactites resemble a cascading Milky Way, others a magical forest. Walking through feels like being in a cosmic secret realm.
- Must-do: Stop and make a wish in front of the "Golden Tree," symbolizing a year full of blessings. Take Live photos on your phone to capture the romantic flowing lights;
- Practical info: Adult ticket 116 RMB, 1-2 hours to explore; after arriving at Tonglu High-Speed Rail Station, a taxi costs about 50 RMB directly to the site, very convenient.
📍 Second stop: Daqi Mountain National Forest Park (perfect for families and outdoor lovers)
A "natural oxygen bar" hidden in the forest, featuring sapphire-green pools, lively koi fish, and gentle deer. For thrill-seekers, off-road motorbike experiences are available, offering both excitement and tranquility.
- Chinese New Year special: From January 29 to February 4 (during the Spring Festival), the park’s entrance and exit are bustling! Enjoy traditional crafts like sugar figurines, sweet and sour candied hawthorn, peanut cakes, glutinous rice candy... full of festive vibes, perfect for strolling, eating, and playing;
- Practical info: Adult ticket 52 RMB, 3-5 hours recommended (allow plenty of time); taxi from Tonglu High-Speed Rail Station costs about 10 RMB, surprisingly close.
2. Travel Tips: Avoid pitfalls & stay comfortable
1. Dress advice: Wear non-slip sports shoes! There are water droplets inside the caves, making the ground slippery; the temperature difference in the scenic spots is large, caves and forests are relatively warm, so bring a jacket that’s easy to put on and take off (like a light windbreaker or cardigan), so you can remove it if hot or wear it if cold.
2. Time planning: It’s recommended to visit one attraction per day for a more relaxed pace—go to Yaolin Wonderland in the morning (to avoid crowds), then Daqi Mountain in the afternoon, and enjoy a local meal in Tonglu city in the evening (recommended dishes: Tonglu fried rice cakes, Fuchun River mixed fish).
3. Family-friendly: The deer and koi at Daqi Mountain are very popular with kids, and the magical lighting in Yaolin Wonderland also captures children’s attention, making it a great choice for families.
Want to escape the cold this winter but still enjoy mountains, water, and festive vibes? These two spots in Tonglu will definitely satisfy you! Warm 20°C, magical caves, lively festival atmosphere—book your trip now~
