Shishe Village in Tonglu is an ancient village located in Fuchunjiang Town, Tonglu County, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province.
Here is a detailed introduction:
Historical Background
Shishe Village has a history of over 400 years. It was named because the Fang family migrated here to settle and initially built stone walls and thatched cottages. Most villagers have the surname Fang.
Natural Environment
Shishe Village is surrounded by mountains on four sides and water on three sides. In front of the village flows the crescent-shaped Luzhi Creek, with crystal-clear water. The village has a forest coverage rate of over 92%, with fresh air and a beautiful environment.
Ancient Architectural Style
The village preserves more than 3,000 square meters of Ming and Qing dynasty buildings, mainly in the Hui style, including Houzaitang, Jinyitang, and Cunrentang. Most of these buildings are built along the mountains and near the water, featuring white walls and black tiles, simple and elegant.
Unique Experiences
The village has many specialty shops, including coffee shops, guesthouses, handicraft stores, and intangible cultural heritage snack shops. In addition, there are intangible cultural heritage handmade experience projects such as traditional brown sugar workshops and ancient papermaking methods, where visitors can experience the fusion of traditional culture and modern art.
Nearby Attractions
The Maling Ancient Trail beside the village is one of the "Top Ten Classic Ancient Trails in Zhejiang." It is about 12 kilometers long. Starting from Shishe Village, you can hike to Maoping Village and Luzhi Village, with green trees shading the path and streams accompanying the way, offering beautiful scenery.
Food Recommendations
Special local foods include Mishaipa, Gray Soup Zongzi, and farmhouse chicken pot. Mishaipa is a non-material cultural heritage noodle dish of Tonglu, and Gray Soup Zongzi is glutinous rice dumplings soaked in plant ash water, giving them a unique taste.
