Must-try routes[!][!][!][!]
[One] Underground Dark River Boating
Board a small wooden boat into the cave! A guide at the bow leads the way. The 40-minute journey feels like traveling through the earth’s core, passing seven wonders including "Penglai Fairy Island."
[Two] Time Tunnel Glass Walkway
Just 200 meters after disembarking! Transparent glass overlooks the underground river. Hold the railing tight if you’re afraid of heights (not recommended for those with acrophobia).
[Three] Yaolin Wonderland Light Show
Two shows daily at 14:00 and 16:00! The cave transforms into an underwater dragon palace, with lasers projecting illusions of swimming whales.
📸Perfect photo spots
✔️Stone bridge at Tongtian River entrance (overhead shots of boats entering the cave)
✔️"Crystal Palace" cave hall (lights shining on stalactites are stunning)
✔️Corner of the glass walkway (photographers shoot silhouettes from the lower level)
🍜Nearby delicacies
- Tonglu rice cake (Yaolin Town’s time-honored brand)
- Stone pot fish ("Shanshui Fishing Village" at the scenic area entrance, incredibly fresh)
- Fermented rice steamed buns (with preserved plum vegetables, a classic)
⚠️Tips to avoid pitfalls
1. Cave temperature is constant at 18℃! Bring a light jacket
2. Boat queues can be over an hour, recommend going early morning
3. The ground is slippery, wear non-slip shoes
4. Do not use flash photography (it damages the stalactites)
