🌿 Wandering in Wuzhen, a Jiangnan waterfront destination | Once you've been, you'll never leave
☁️
Bluestone pavements, rowboats, and whitewashed walls and black tiles have always been my hallmarks of Jiangnan's water towns. Amidst the poetic beauty of Jiangnan, I rediscovered my longing for a leisurely life, unwinding, taking photos, and savoring the slow pace of time.
A day in Wuzhen felt like time had been sped up at 0.5x. I loved the evenings, standing on the bridge, watching the lanterns 🏮 light up one by one and the rowboats glide past below... Though commercialized, this place remains poetic, offering a brief escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Every scene in Wuzhen is beautiful, especially when the sun is shining. The breeze sways the willows, and dappled light and shadows filter through the leaves, casting a stunning shadow across the whitewashed walls and black tiles. No matter how you photograph it, it's a beautiful sight.

🍜 Wuzhen Cuisine
After touring East Scenic Area this morning, I ordered a bowl of mutton noodles at the restaurant near the entrance. Initially, I was curious why mutton noodles would be such a specialty in this Jiangnan water town, and even featured at the top of the menu. Upon trying it, I was delighted. The mutton was tender and fragrant, the noodles were smooth and crisp, and the sauce was rich and salty, not too pungent or dry. It was truly delicious. I guess I'd accidentally checked in at "Scholar's Mutton Noodles," right?
While visiting West Scenic Area, I sat by the river and enjoyed a plate of fried tofu. Unlike Changsha's stinky tofu, the fried tofu in Wuzhen doesn't come with soup. It's delicious when dipped in chili sauce. Watching the rowboats pass by on the water, the sun swaying, was quite relaxing 😌
There were also snacks like Dingsheng cake and shredded radish pancakes. When we passed Jixianfang, we saw the line was so long that we skipped it.
💡 A unique experience
If you have the chance, definitely try Wuzhen's "morning tea" (for hotel guests), enjoying soy milk, fried dough sticks, and other snacks at the floating market at 7 a.m. Compared to the garden morning tea I had at Nanyuan Beiyuan Restaurant in Guangzhou, this one has a more gentle and down-to-earth feel. #RegisterHotelTestSleeper
