The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin
📍 Prime location hidden beside the Five Great Avenues
Situated on Dagu North Road in Heping District, the hotel occupies a former 1920s government residence. Just a 5-minute walk from the main gate takes you into the cluster of Western-style buildings in the Five Great Avenues. Rent a shared bike and ride under the shade of plane trees, admiring the diverse architecture - it's both artistic and relaxing. The Tianjin Eye Ferris wheel is just a 15-minute taxi ride away. At night, watch the Haihe River's nightscape from the bridge, with lights reflecting on the water - so beautiful it leaves you speechless. It's also super close to the Porcelain House and Italian Style Street, making it perfect for sightseeing!
🏰 A noble experience the moment you step in
The lobby instantly takes your breath away! With its towering dome, crystal chandeliers, and carved columns, it feels like stepping onto the set of a European period drama. During check-in, staff offered warm lavender-scented towels and thoughtfully asked if I needed help planning my itinerary.
The room takes luxury to another level - vintage leather sofas, gilded decorative paintings, even the bedside switches have retro knob designs. But the bathroom is the real showstopper: a marble bathtub with massage functions, paired with Ritz-Carlton's signature scented bath bombs that leave you smelling like expensive wood. Before bed, I discovered handwritten welcome cards and macaron gift boxes on the nightstand - a detail lover's dream!
🏊 Healing spaces hidden in this palace
The 24-hour fitness center features imported high-end equipment, with treadmills facing floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning city views while you run. The heated pool is the real surprise though! Fresh fruits and Evian water by the poolside, followed by steam rooms and Finnish saunas that open up every pore. Even the hair dryers in the changing rooms are Dyson, with vanity tables stocked with moisturizing sprays and cotton pads - the attention to detail is impeccable!
💡 Insider tips for the best experience
Don't miss breakfast at "Xiang Yi" restaurant! Their freshly made jianbing guozi (Chinese crepes) have perfectly crispy crackers and flavorful sauces; there's also traditional guobacai with old tofu - pure Tianjin flavors.
Afternoon tea is a must! Order the three-tier English afternoon tea in the lobby lounge - scones with clotted cream accompanied by live piano music create an unbeatable atmosphere.
At checkout, ask the concierge for the hotel's custom souvenirs - I got a Ritz-branded scented candle that lets me relive this luxurious experience at home!
