Wuzhen Theatre Festival｜A Happy Utopia for Bricklayers with Kids in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai

Although this trip to Wuzhen for the theatre festival was a last-minute decision and we didn’t get tickets for the plays, the carnival was so amazing that we had a great time! Highly recommended!

🩵🩵Stay🩵
First, if you’re bringing kids to the Wuzhen Theatre Festival, it’s best to stay one night inside Wuzhen West Scenic Area, two days and one night. You can enjoy the quiet Wuzhen before 9:30 AM the next day, have some special morning tea, and rest anytime when tired.
[Zhenshui Resort Hotel] During the theatre festival on Saturday, it’s 1180 RMB/night, but the overall decor is quite old, giving a somewhat dated feeling.

This spontaneous trip to Wuzhen, although we didn’t get theatre tickets, the daily carnival shows kept coming non-stop! There was so much to see, running back and forth between venues, it was so much fun!

💛Must-see Wuzhen Carnival Shows
1️⃣ Yaohe Fireman 🔥
If you want to watch a performance, camp out early at Bailian Tower, arrive at least 1 hour ahead.
A must-see! The live atmosphere is super intense, not just the performers but every audience member!
2️⃣ Sailing Legend 🪼
Vikings and pirates vibe, every instrument is interesting and unique, costumes are exotic, 30 minutes of ultimate musical enjoyment! Definitely listen to it.
3️⃣ The Birdman and His Chimera Band 🦅
Very special instruments, the Birdman costume is huge and exaggerated, constantly adjusting bird feathers.
Similar style to Yaohe Fireman.
4️⃣ Universal Studios Mid-show, Everyone Partying Together 💃
The NPCs from Universal Studios are amazing, playing and singing all around, tumbling up and down! The whole crowd is fired up!
Also, the Minions meet-and-greet is quite fun; if you want photos, line up on the left side facing the stage.
You can also get a Universal Studios themed ID holder as a gift.
There’s a themed video shoot too, but the line is long 🦦. Our kid filmed Kung Fu Panda, looking forward to the final video.
5️⃣ The Wizard of Oz - Little Comma Band 🧚‍♀️
If you want to watch, wait at the small square opposite the Family.
So beautiful! How can there be such pretty girls!!! The bear is cute, the robot is cute! The scarecrow is cute too!
6️⃣ One Bench, Two Clowns 🤡
A very lively small play, very interesting, and the costumes of the girls are beautiful!
7️⃣ What a Day 🕶️
The fun stories of grandma and grandson, our kid really enjoyed it and pulled us to watch it again.
8️⃣ Nezha 🌊
Kids love it, and you can interact and get themed character pins.
9️⃣ As Long as There’s Moonlight
A children’s performance, seeing the world from a child’s perspective 🦦

There are so many carnival shows! Prepare in advance, plan your route, and lock in spots for popular shows early! Experience level up up up.
It’s a pity we missed the Trumpet Sound performance by the Off-Key Theatre Troupe, looking forward to next time!
