After a 15-minute ferry ride to the island, you'll find the layout of the Toronto Islands very clear: the core area is Centre Island, to the south is the open lakeside area, and to the north lies the quiet Ward’s Island. You can connect all the main sights entirely on foot.
Head first to the lakeside area, where Lake Ontario reflects the Toronto skyline, with skyscraper shadows shimmering on the waves. Every snapshot is a masterpiece 📸, and the scene becomes even gentler as the soft evening light spreads. Walking along the lakeside trail toward Ward’s Island, you’ll often see swans gliding slowly across the water 🦢, their snowy white feathers shining, while flocks of little ducks chase the ripples, chirping energetically.
Centre Island hides many cozy corners, with large lawns perfect for laying down and resting, the breeze carrying the refreshing scent of lake water; occasionally, you’ll spot wooden signposts pointing to hidden flower paths. Remember to bring snacks and water in advance, as there are few restaurants on the island. Restrooms are available near the dock 🚻, making your visit hassle-free.
Taking the ferry is the most cost-effective way to get there, with round-trip tickets for adults costing about 9.11 CAD; if you want to save time during peak hours, you can also choose a water taxi starting at 13 CAD one way, making it easy to start your island tour.
