Wat Mahawanaram (Wat Pa Yai) 🛕
This third-class royal temple, located in Mueang Ubon Ratchathani District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, is commonly known as "Wat Pa Yai" (Pa Yai Temple) due to its vast area. It is an important temple in Ubon Ratchathani Province and a center for the spread of Isan Buddhism.

The temple complex houses a beautifully crafted ubosot (ordination hall) and houses the Phra Chao Yai Inthraplang, an ancient Buddha image revered by Ubon Ratchathani.

Wat Mahawanaram is also associated with Phra Ajahn Man Phurithatto, a pioneer of Vipassana meditation practice. It is used as a venue for major annual merit-making ceremonies, such as the Candle Festival during the Buddhist Lent.
