Shepherd and sheep among the rocks

#hellohalloween

Not far from Uchisar, I turned off the trail—I just wanted to walk among the tuff pillars, where there were no people. The stones stood like towers, and below, paths stretched like the marks of time.

Suddenly, an old man emerged from behind a rock with some sheep.
He was small, tanned, wearing a wool vest and rubber boots. He greeted me, smiled, said something in Turkish, and waved his hand—"Come and look."

The sheep followed, their bells jingling. One stopped at an old door in the rock—the very one where people once lived. The old man pointed and explained that it used to be his parents' house. Now it's a shelter from the sun and a place for the sheep to rest in the heat. 📍 Location: Between Uchisar and Pigeon Valley, Cappadocia, Turkey.
🕐 When to go: Morning or late afternoon—at this time, shepherds are driving their flocks and the sun is mild.
