[Kyoto Prefecture] Visit Uji Shrine!

The deity enshrined here is Emperor Ojin's son, Uji no Wakairoko. The name of the area around here was originally written as "Uji" meaning "rabbit road," so this shrine symbolizes the rabbit. The main hall was built in the early Kamakura period and is designated as an important cultural property of Japan. Originally, "Uji Shrine" and "Ujikami Shrine" were integrated into one shrine. They were separated in the Meiji period, but they are nearby, so please visit them together.
