[Kyoto] Uji Shrine and the God's Messenger Rabbit

The deity worshipped here is Uji no Wakiiratsuko no Mikoto, the guardian deity of Uji. This shrine has been revered for its blessings in passing exams and achieving safe childbirth. There is a torii gate just after crossing the Asagiri Bridge from the JR side. There is an anecdote that a rabbit guided the deity when he got lost. The lanterns and the faucet for the water basin in the precincts are rabbits. If you go to Uji, please be sure to visit.
