Uji, the city of green tea

⛩️🍃 This trip, we visited the small town of Uji, a city near Kyoto steeped in the charm of matcha. We started with a visit to Byodo-in Temple, a World Heritage site, so peaceful and beautiful, we had to pause and gaze at it for a moment. Then, we strolled along the Uji River, soaking in the lush greenery. Before we even got to sample some rich matcha green tea at a legendary shop, the aroma was captivating. 🍵✨ The temple, the tea, and the city all made us feel recharged. 💚

• Byodoin Temple (平等院): A World Heritage site, it's incredibly beautiful, especially the Phoenix Hall, featured on the 10 yen coin.
• Uji River & Uji Bridge (宇治橋): A romantic atmosphere. Perfect for strolling and taking photos.
• Byodoin Omotesando Green Tea Street: Famous green tea shops and souvenirs.
• Ujigami Shrine (宇治上神社): The oldest shrine in Japan.

JR Line (Highly recommended)
• From Kyoto Station → Take the JR Nara Line.
• Get off at Uji Station (JR 宇治駅).
• Travel time: ~20–25 minutes. Fare: ~240 yen.
