[Okinawa Main Island, Central] World Heritage Site! Amawari's Castle, Katsuren Castle Ruins 🏯

Uruma City is located in the central part of Okinawa Island.

On the Katsuren Peninsula, there are the ruins of Katsuren Castle, which was once the residence of Amawari.

In the history books of the Ryukyu Kingdom, Amawari has long been spoken of as a rebel.

On the other hand, among the people of Katsuren, where Amawari's residence was, he has been passed down as a hero.

Amawari has two faces.

In recent years, the perception of Amawari has been changing.

One of the factors that has caused this is

the modern Kumiodori "Kitaka no Amawari."

It is a modern version of Kumiodori, a dance performed by middle and high school students in Uruma City.

Since its premiere in 2001, it has been passed down and is still being performed today.

It is also known as a stage for miracles.

The ruins of Katsuren Castle, which was also the setting for Kimitaka no Amawari.

We will walk around the first and second baileys.

We will make use of the stone-paved roads that have been there since the castle was built.

Currently,
Amawari Park is also located next to the site.

Visit the Katsuren Castle Ruins after learning about Amawari and Katsuren from the permanent exhibition.
