Katsuren Castle Ruins is located on a hill on the Katsuren Peninsula, which juts out from the east coast of Uruma City into the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the "Gusuku and Related Properties of the Ryukyu Kingdom" that was registered as a World Heritage Site in 2000. The World Heritage Site "Katsuren Castle Ruins" is the oldest castle in Okinawa and is said to have been built around the 12th century. The stone-paved scenery is typical of Okinawa, and the castle walls are also magnificent. From the entrance, there are steep slopes and long stairs, but at the end of the hill, a magnificent view of the sea and mountains spreads out, and you will be overwhelmed by the panoramic view from the castle. In 2021, "Amawari Park" will open at the foot of the Katsuren Castle Ruins. It is a museum where you can learn about the history of Katsuren Castle. As a result, admission to the Katsuren Castle Ruins is now subject to a fee. Admission is 600 yen for adults and 400 yen for children.
You can use both Katsuren Castle Ruins and Amawari Park.
You can actually touch the castle while learning about its history.
This is a recommended spot among the castle ruins in Okinawa.
