2 Full Day Itinerary in Urumqi 🇨🇳

Urumqi is the capital city of Xinjiang and it is the perfect introduction to Xinjiang. Let me share to you an itinerary that will take you to breathtaking places around urumqi.

Day 0- Arrival in the hotel and just explore the neighborhood you’re in. Try local snacks right away. The lamb skewers taste divine in Xinjiang so please don’t miss this paired with Nang bread .
Visit the International Grand Bazaar and have your dinner there. It is so vibrant and you can shop there until you drop. 😊

Day 1- we have booked a tour to the Grand Canyon of Tianshan Mountains. Trip app offers tickets and shuttle bus tickets so just have a look through the app. Your hotel and hostel will have recommendations for tour operators for you anyway. If you are an anxious person, better book in advance but I don’t think they ever run out of tickets coz there aren’t a lot of tourists in Urumqi and it’s scenic spots yet.

7:30 was out call time at the meeting point. No worries, they will contact you in advance for this tour’s instructions.

This is pretty much whole day activity so do not book any other stuff on the same day.

Day 2- another full day tour. This time , you will go to the most and highly recommended tourist spot in Urumqi which is the Heavenly Lake.

This is also a guided tour. Trip app has available offers for this too but then again you can also book through your hostel or hotel.

Seriously, Heavenly lake and its surrounding mountain is like a massive painting. It is indeed breathtaking.
Anyway, before you reach the heavenly lake, you will stop at a Kazakh village which is really interesting to see. You get to learn how the Kazakh minority live, culture and tradition.

You will arrive back to tour hotel in the evening already so depending on your energy level you can go for a cultural show in the international grand bazaar. There are a few theaters there so you can just choose.
