Ningyuan, Ningxia's first small garden featuring a cluster of Qing Dynasty-style buildings, was completed during the National Day holiday of 1987. Located south of Jiefang East Street in Xingqing District, Yinchuan City, it was constructed by the Shaanxi Ancient Architecture Company. Entering the garden from the west gate leads to the bonsai area. The main area consists of the Xingqing Hall, the Qinming Pavilion, a stele, a corridor, and a pond.
Xingqing Hall is the tallest hall in the park. The mural "Storms of Western Xia" inside the hall artistically recreates the politics, economy, culture, military affairs, and local customs of the Western Xia Kingdom period in Chinese history. A white marble sculpture of "Nezha Conquers the Dragon King" sits in the square pool in front of Xingqing Hall. To the left of Xingqing Hall is the Qinming Pavilion, a replica of an ancient building with a curved roof. To the right is a winding stele corridor named "Hanmo," connected by a double-eaved pavilion and a hexagonal pavilion at each corner. The corridor walls are inscribed with works by Mao Zedong, Dong Biwu, and calligraphers from within and outside the district. To the north of the East District is a large rockery with a pond, pergola, and flower beds, offering recreational opportunities.
