Tochigi Prefectural Museum, located in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture

Opened in 1982, this comprehensive museum adjacent to Tochigi Prefectural Central Park offers visitors a chance to deepen their understanding of Tochigi's nature, history, and culture.

Permanent exhibits showcase the history and culture built by our ancestors against the backdrop of Tochigi's mountains, rivers, diverse flora and fauna, and abundant nature.

① Slope Exhibition
This 72-meter-long spiral slope exhibit connects the first-floor hall and the second-floor exhibition room.

Exhibits show the natural landscape of Nikko National Park and the vertical distribution of living organisms from the Shinkyo Bridge area in Nikko to the summit of Mt. Shirane.

② Exhibition Room 1
From the geological era to the present, each exhibit features exhibits and explanations appropriate to each era.

③ Exhibition Room 2
Permanent natural exhibits showcasing familiar nature, geology, plants, and animals.

Woodland creatures, aquatic creatures, rocks, minerals, and fossils, fungi, plants, and animals.

④ Special Exhibition Room
Held three times a year.
*The special exhibition space may change depending on the exhibit content.

Closed: Mondays (excluding national holidays), the weekday following national holidays or substitute holidays
New Year's holiday (December 28th - January 4th)
Temporary closure for regular disinfection: June 17th - June 30th

Opening Hours: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM (last admission at 4:30 PM)

Admission Fee: General admission: ¥260 (¥200)
High school and university students: ¥120 (¥100)
Free for junior high school students and younger

*Prices in parentheses are for groups of 20 or more, or the M-discount (museum discount)
*Free admission on the second Saturday and the following Sunday of June, Prefectural Day (June 15th), and November 3rd.
*A separate admission fee is required for special exhibitions.
