The best time to visit the Uyuni Salt Flats depends on your travel goals.
If you want to see the mirror effect (where the sky and ground appear as one):
The rainy season (December to March) is ideal.
During this time, shallow water accumulates on the salt flats, creating a magical mirror-like landscape perfect for photography. Many travelers from around the world flock to see this phenomenon, so it's recommended to book accommodations and tours in advance.
If you want to see the endless salt plains and honeycomb-patterned ground:
The dry season (May to October) is suitable.
With little to no rain, the sky is clear, and the unique white terrain and hexagonal cracks of the salt flats are vividly visible. This season is also great for stargazing at night.
For mirror-like landscapes, December is highly recommended.
Note: Bolivia requires a visa. The on-arrival visa fee is approximately $168.
