St. Peter's Basilica is a must-see when entering Vatican City. This magnificent space, appearing majestically as you pass through the Vatican Museums, feels like a colossal work of art in itself.
The interior of the basilica is awe-inspiring, with its gilded ceiling, splendid mosaics, and massive dome. The baldacchino (bronze canopy over the altar) designed by Bernini exudes both sacredness and grandeur, drawing visitors to the central altar.
Countless statues and monuments adorn the walls and side chapels, allowing me to closely observe the legacy of past popes and saints. Pieces like the tombstone of Queen Christina of Sweden and the statue of St. Vincent de Paul were particularly impressive, blending religious significance with artistic beauty.
Antique decorations and relics are also on display, making this a visit not just to a church, but to experience centuries of faith and history firsthand.
📍 Address: Piazza San Pietro, 00120 Città del Vaticano, Vatican City
