In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, Daqiao Town's cobblestone street was built, running east-west and stretching approximately four li. The ancient street's pavement is paved with nearly 10,000 granite slabs, each nearly three feet long, one foot wide, and nearly five inches thick. Beneath this paved surface is a brick sewage canal. Despite the passage of centuries, the street's contours remain clear, its individual granite slabs still vividly winding their way. Mirroring the cobblestone street are rows of residential buildings, each with its own distinct character, built in the Ming and Qing dynasty style.

The ancient street is rich in ancient charm, adorned with exquisite architecture, such as the Liu Family Courtyard, the Jiangnan-style Shu Family Mansion, and the blend of Chinese and Western styles found in the Huanggang Villa. Notably, the ancestral hall of Gu Tuhe, a second-place scholar during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, boasts a pair of large stone lions in front of it, earning it the nickname "Lion Mansion." A wooden archway behind the lions bears a blue-and-gold plaque inscribed with "King Kangxi's Imperial Bestowal of the Second Place," and within the hall hangs a plaque inscribed with "Zunxun Hall," bestowed by Emperor Kangxi. These have shimmered in this rural town for centuries.
