Fall in Love with Verona – The Romantic City of Italy 🇮🇹💫

We started our Verona walking tour (actually began on a lime bike for fun then walked) the only way an Italian morning should begin — with a strong espresso at Caffè Borsari. Tucked away on Corso Porta Borsari, this tiny café feels like a time capsule, walls covered in postcards from all over the world and the scent of freshly ground coffee lingering in the air. The barista handed us two perfect macchiato’s, no nonsense, no frills — just the fuel you need before wandering through centuries of history!
From there, we wandered towards the heart of the old town, passing by ochre-colored buildings with wooden shutters and flower-draped balconies. Every turn in Verona feels like a scene from a film — and none more iconic than Casa di Giulietta.
Despite the crowds, there’s something undeniably charming about Juliet’s Balcony. People linger in the small courtyard, snapping photos and leaving love notes on the walls. I touched the bronze statue of Juliet for good luck (as tradition says), and then looked up at the tiny balcony — simple, but steeped in legend. Whether or not Shakespeare ever set foot here, the energy is real.
Next, I followed the cobblestone alleys to Piazza delle Erbe, buzzing with life — market stalls, musicians, and cafes spilling onto the square. We then grabbed a slice of focaccia from a street vendor and let the day unfold with no strict plan.
As the sun began to lower, we made our way to the Adige River, crossing the Ponte Pietra, Verona’s oldest bridge. The golden hour hit the water just right, casting a soft amber glow over the city. I walked along the riverbank, the sky melting into pinks and purples, bells chiming in the distance, and the breeze carrying the scent of blooming oleander.
Verona doesn’t shout. It whispers, with stone under your feet and history in every direction. A perfect day, starting with coffee and ending with a sunset I’ll never forget.
