Montreux, the city loved by Queen

If you're staying in Geneva and have a Swiss Pass, Montreux is a great destination for a day trip. It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to get there, and it's famous as a resort town. The area around the lake is lined with hotels, and it's such a relaxing city that you'll regret not staying overnight.

Montreux is well-known as the city where Freddie Mercury enjoyed his vacations, and there's a statue of Queen there. Around the statue, you'll find restaurants and supermarkets, making it a convenient spot for lunch. The statue area is a popular photo spot, attracting many visitors.

Walking along the lakeside path, you'll discover plenty of small attractions. There are interesting statues, flowers like hibiscus, and animals living in the lake, making the stroll so enjoyable that you lose track of time.

About a 30-minute walk from the city is Château de Chillon. Following the lakeside path, you'll reach the castle without realizing how much time has passed. To enter the castle, you need to purchase a ticket, but I didn't go inside. Just exploring the exterior of the castle was satisfying enough.

Right in front of Château de Chillon, there's a souvenir shop with high-quality items. However, the prices are quite steep, so I didn't buy anything, which I now regret. If you're visiting, I recommend buying at least one item if you're hesitating—it'll save you from regret later.
