The main and most prominent garden in Merano is the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle. As a major highlight of the region, these botanical gardens are built around a historic castle that was a winter residence for Empress Elisabeth of Austria, known as "Sissi".

Diverse garden landscapes: Spanning 12 hectares with over 80 themed garden landscapes, the gardens offer a journey through diverse botanical worlds. They are divided into four main themed areas:
Forests of the World: Features indigenous conifer forests from North America and East Asia.
Sun Gardens: Celebrates the Mediterranean with citrus and olive groves, lavender, and rosemary.
