Wakayama ❤︎ The earliest cherry blossoms in the Kinki region 🌸

It is an old cherry blossom spot that is also mentioned in Matsuo Basho's haiku.

There is a standard tree for observation by the weather observatory in the precincts, and this year, on March 26th, it was declared the earliest cherry blossom in the Kinki region.

In April, the trees are in full bloom, and about 400 cherry trees, including Somei Yoshino and Higanzakura, are in full bloom in the precincts.

The vermilion pagoda, bell tower, and torii gate are gorgeous.

It's a spot full of things to see.

The cut-out goshuin is also cute.

On a nice day, the view of Wakaura from the precincts is spectacular.

There are 231 steep stone steps from the tower gate to the precincts where the main hall is located, but there is a cable car and elevator, so it's easy to climb.

The cherry blossom festival is until Sunday, April 20th.
