Next to Noshappu Cape, a famous Wakkanai attraction...

There is a small aquarium and science museum that is 70 years old there.
Admission fee is 500 yen for adults & a small municipal aquarium in the outskirts of the province.
I didn't really have high expectations.
But when I visited there, it was full of experiences that I couldn't have anywhere else!
No matter where it is, I have to go and see it for myself!

1) Penguins and seals that you can see up close

Penguins and seals are usually only seen through thick windows, but here, you can see them within arm's reach (but don't reach out!). The Hunbolt penguins, who hate cold places, are really cute. ㅎㅎ

2) Seal smelling experience

They have gathered the fur of young seals in a container so you can smell them freely. The strong animal smell is nauseating, but it's also affectionate. Where can I smell a seal?

3) Starfish touching experience

You can catch a starfish with your bare hands! Enjoy the unique, slippery texture

4) General aquarium

Of course, there is a general aquarium! But it's closer than any other aquarium, so you can feel as if it's right in front of you!

5) Doctor Fish Experience

Here, you use your hands, not your feet! If you touch it with your hands, the sensation of it splashing is so amazing. I can't help but pull my hands away. ㅎㅎ

6) Crab Fishing Experience

You pick up the crabs with a fishing rod with bait attached! It's fun, like a free crane game. This is quite difficult~

7) Planerium

There is also a planerium screening. The one I saw was a 5-minute Chilseok material, but there are various screenings that are around 20 minutes long! There are various screenings every day, so sit back and check the schedule.

8) Science Museum Experience

There are various experiences such as touching Antarctic ice, wearing a spacesuit, and more. There are also many exhibits about the Antarctic base, so if you're a boy, you'll want to sit back for two days!

9) Penguin & Seal Show

This is the highlight!

The penguins and seals move around in various ways in the hands of the keeper!
Throwing balls, catching rings, spinning, swimming, etc.

Immerse yourself in the animal world for about 15 minutes!

No matter where you go, judge for yourself and see without preconceptions!
This was a space that made me feel that way!
