Wat Nong Pah Pong, a forest temple renowned worldwide as the origin of Luang Por Chah's practice of Luang Por Chah Suphatto, is a forest temple renowned for its tranquility and serenity unlike any other temple.
As soon as you step inside, the first thing you notice is the lush greenery of large trees. The sounds of birds and the wind blowing through the leaves almost drown out the noise of traffic outside. The atmosphere feels like you've been transported to another world, filled with tranquility.
The temple grounds are spacious, with pavilions, wooden buildings, and monks' quarters nestled among the trees. They aren't lavishly decorated, but rather simple and blend in with nature. Continuing your walk, you'll reach the Ubosot (ordination hall) in the middle of the water, a solemn and majestic structure that is a central feature of the temple.
In the late morning, I had the opportunity to listen to a sermon by a monk residing here for the Buddhist Lent. The slow, clear sermons miraculously calmed my mind, reminding me to stop chasing the chaos and return to my inner self.
Walking meditation under the shade of the large trees was a memorable experience. Every step was filled with mindfulness, making me understand why this temple has become a popular meditation destination for people from around the world.
