If autumn had a center stage, it would definitely be Tachuan!
No exaggeration, Tachuan at the end of October looks like it was color-graded by God himself—
Golden waves of rice rolling, Chinese tallow trees burning red like fiery clouds, Hui-style old houses with white walls and black tiles hidden deep in the forest sea, a wisp of morning mist drifting by, as if a fairyland has descended to earth. 🌫️🍁
🔥 Why must you come at the end of October?
A week earlier, the leaves aren’t fully dyed; ten days later, the leaves have all fallen.
Late October to early November is Tachuan’s “highlight 72 hours”!
The rice fields have just been harvested, the ground is covered with scattered gold; the maple leaves are at their peak, the Chinese tallow trees shift from orange to dark purple, and when the sunlight hits, the entire valley glows!
📷【Three top photo spots, every shot looks like National Geographic】
✅ Village Entrance Viewing Platform — panoramic knockout spot!
Get there by 6:30 AM, in the swirling mist, red leaves, black tiles, and cooking smoke intertwine. No need to edit your phone photos, post on social media and instantly get 99+ likes!
✅ Stone Slab Alley — atmosphere sniper!
Shoot from a low angle looking up, letting red leaves hang down from the white walls. Every step is a scene, the vintage film vibe maxed out.
✅ Rice Field Path — portrait god mode!
Wear a plain long dress standing on the ridge, with mountains dyed in layers behind you. Snap a photo, and your friends ask, “Did you go to Japan?” No, I’m in Anhui!
🏨【Where to stay? Don’t foolishly stay in the city!】
✔️ Tachuan village homestays are the first choice! Open the window to see red leaves, look up at the Milky Way at night, about 200 RMB per person, totally worth it!
✔️ Rooms tight? Choose around Hongcun, just a 15-minute taxi ride away, and you can also check out Mukeng Bamboo Sea and Lucun Ancient Houses!
📅【Two days and one night itinerary for the best experience】
📍Day 1: Head straight to Tachuan! Take small paths, shoot epic photos, eat farmhouse dishes, and wait for the sunset to shine on the Chinese tallow forest—so beautiful it leaves you speechless.
📍Day 2: Early morning visit Hongcun, see autumn colors reflected in South Lake, then enjoy a hot Huangshan sesame cake—perfect!
🍜【Taste southern Anhui, you haven’t really been if you don’t eat these】
🔥 Mao tofu (crispy outside, soft inside, only the “moving” ones are authentic)
🔥 Bamboo shoot skin braised pork (savory and flavorful, a perfect match for rice)
🔥 Stone ear mushroom stewed chicken (mountain delicacy old hen, one sip warms you to your toes)
🚗【How to get there most conveniently?】
🚘 Self-driving: About 3.5 hours from Hefei/Nanjing, navigate to “Tachuan Scenic Area,” parking at the entrance costs 10 RMB per time
🚌 Public transport: Take high-speed train to Huangshan North Station, transfer to a bus to Hongcun (1 hour), then taxi 15 minutes to Tachuan (20 RMB flat rate)
⚠️【Late autumn travel tips】
🔸 Frosty cold in the early morning! Coat + scarf are must-haves, keep warm while shooting photos
🔸 Best shooting times: 7-9 AM (morning mist is stunning), 4-6 PM (soft light and shadows)
🔸 Tachuan is small, it’s recommended to combine with Hongcun and Lucun for a full day of highlights or two days of slow enjoyment!
This autumn, stop envying others’ photos—
Go to Tachuan and become part of the painting yourself.
