Visit Liugong Island to explore the history of the First Sino-Japanese War

Take a bus to the Liugong Island Tourist Wharf (ticket includes ferry fare, ¥122) and board the ferry. The ride takes about 15 minutes to reach Liugong Island.

Liugong Island preserves historical sites from the Qing Dynasty, such as the Naval Headquarters, Naval Academy, and Qiding Mountain Battery. Additionally, there are European-style buildings left from the British lease period. The First Sino-Japanese War Exhibition Hall provides a detailed account of the war's events, including the cession and reparations, which remain a tragic chapter in history. Taiwan's cession under the Treaty of Shimonoseki also marked the beginning of another historical era for the island.
