I'm an ordinary office worker from Taizhou, Zhejiang, with a lovely wife and a 3-year-old son. I enjoy sharing family travel tips, hotel deals, and family-friendly attractions. I accidentally became a family travel blogger.
This Lunar New Year, we traveled to Fuzhou. We had a lot of things to do before the trip, and I stayed up late every night to clean the house. By the time we packed our luggage and left, it was already afternoon. The weather wasn't great, and it was raining a little, so we decided to rest in Wenzhou for a night before heading to Pingtan.
🏨 Shangri-La Wenzhou
The hotel is close to the Shenhai Expressway exit, just a 10-minute drive away.
We booked a family room with a panoramic view of the Oujiang River. I was captivated by the river view as soon as I opened the door, while my son was drawn to the toys in the room.
⛺ There was a puzzle toy in the small tent in the room, and my son played in the tent for over half an hour. There was also a rocking horse, which is perfect for young children.
There is a slide outside on the first floor and a K20 playground inside. The playground is spacious and has new toys, and there are staff members to look after the children, so they can play safely. See images 2-10.
🍚 Hotel Buffet
We arrived at the hotel around 5 pm and went to the buffet restaurant after checking in. We planned to have a quick meal, but we were amazed by the delicious food. See images 11-16.
The buffet dinner and breakfast both featured local Wenzhou dishes: glutinous rice, meat swallow, lard cake, knock wonton, Yongjia wheat cake, pig offal noodles, and more. The flavors were authentic, so there was no need to go out and squeeze into small restaurants with the kids. You can enjoy all these dishes in one place. The restaurant also has a food cart that makes fresh dishes on demand.
🍰 Special shoutout to the dessert chef. The tiramisu, durian cake, and raisin cake were all delicious, and there were over a dozen options to choose from.
The hotel is not only close to the expressway exit but also a 20-minute drive from Jiangxin Island and a 30-minute drive from Wuma Street. Unfortunately, it rained, so we couldn't visit these places. We left for Pingtan after breakfast the next day. I promised my son that we would come back for a weekend and visit the nearby attractions.
